Eric Clark '83 Awarded for Excellence in Education

H. Eric Clark '83, former SLUH Assistant Principal and Dean of Students, has been named an Excellence in Education Awardee for 2009 by the St. Louis American. He is one of eight individuals in St. Louis who will formally receive this award in the fall at the twenty-second annual “Salute to Excellence in Education Scholarship and Awards Banquet,” St. Louis’ largest civic event honoring African-Americans.

Clark came to SLUH in 1992 as the school’s first Director of Diversity and a teacher in the Social Studies department. In 1995 he was promoted to the position of Assistant Principal and Dean of Students. Throughout his tenure at SLUH, Clark was highly regarded and respected among his peers, and particularly the students.

In 2008, Clark moved on to a new challenge as Principal of Loyola Academy, a Jesuit middle school for at-risk boys in midtown St. Louis. He continues to serve SLUH as a member of the school’s Board of Trustees.
