SLUH Represented at Missouri Top 100 Scholars Event

Two St. Louis University High School seniors – Micah Manary and Dan Viox – were recognized on April 29th as part of the Missouri Top 100 Scholars program, sponsored by the Missouri Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP). The annual event, in its thirteenth year, recognized 100 of Missouri’s top academic students in the graduating class of 2007.

According to the MASSP Web site, "Schools across Missouri were invited to nominate candidates for this statewide recognition. The selection is based primarily on a formula using the student's grade point average and ACT or SAT score."

Among their many academic achievements, Viox placed first in a state math contest sponsored by the American Mathematics Competition in 2005, and Manary scored a top score on both the ACT and PSAT tests.

The event speaker quoted several of the students and ended by reading a long quote from Manary's essay. According to SLUH Principal Dr. Mary Schenkenberg, "Micah's words on his service experiences at SLUH and his work with his father in an African village were very inspiring."
