Baseballbills Included in All-Metro Selections
Several players from the St. Louis University High School baseball team were recently included in the All-Metro selections. These players were part of an exciting district championship team that nearly earned a state championship berth after losing to Francis Howell in the Class 4 semifinals.
“The kids were outstanding,” says Coach Steve Nicollerat. “We had a difficult stretch where we lost two tough games in a row – games that we let slip away – but they bounced back and played well down the stretch. I was really proud of them.”
The following Jr. Bills were honored for their noteworthy achievements this season: David Miller ’08, second base, second team; AJ Griener ’08, pitcher, third team; Mike Bucchino ’09, pitcher, honorable mention; and Sasah Kuebel ’11, utility, honorable mention.
SLUH’s varsity team finished their 20-7 season ranked third in the Missouri State Coach's Poll and fourth in the St. Louis Post Dispatch. After winning the school’s 18th consecutive district championship this season, SLUH has now won 30 district championships, which is more than any other school in the state. In addition, SLUH has appeared in seven Final Four appearances.
